J.C. Higgins Flightliner further identification

Hey everybody,

It's the time that we have always dreaded- cleaning out my grandmother's house...

Up in the attic above the garage, sit three bikes- one is a women's Schwinn, some other brand, and then this J.C. Higgins Flightliner. I've decided that I want to fix this bike up, and bring some semi-modernization to it, while keeping the main looks of the bike. But first, I want to see if you guys can help me with a little bit more identification with it. A lot of the Higgins bikes I see of similiar color and style, have the spring front end. If it doesn't it has red fenders. I'm having a hard time finding information on them with the basic chrome fenders. If any of you can give me a little bit more information, I would be appreciative.

Thanks!
